Workshops
"Seriously good fun..."
Workshops are great ways to engage young people in positive activities. We work with organisations to provide fun an creative workshops. All our activities are focused on developing skills and creating a finished piece along with a performance. Over the years we have been involved in some brilliant projects resulting in some great feedback.
ACEG Workshops include
Music Making
Making music is great! Many schools have musical instruments in cupboards and classroom corners but few use them to their fun potential. Through our music workshops we aim to change that. Using acoustic instruments and singing we work on a performance. This is really good fun and young people are learning all the time (most of the time with out realising).
Computer Music Production
Computer music production is at the heart of all modern music. Music software today is so powerful that the sky really is the limit. We use industry standard equipment to train young people in production skills. A workshop would teach a young person to record audio, arrange sounds, edit sounds and how to perform those sounds in a live set. Using Ableton Live, Apple's Logic Pro and garageband we are able to lay down some really great sounding tracks. The type of tracks young people today listen to on the radio.
DJ Skills
Wether your musical taste is Electro House or Classical. DJ skill and music production are fast becoming one and the same. Genre blending arrangements of music are becoming increasingly popular. DJ skills is a great way to learn some really useful music theory and ear training. Recognising and matching tempo and key's are valuable skills for any musician. ACEG music uses these methods to create great sounding mixes and at the same time teaching music theory in a fun and interactive way.
Lyric Writing and Poetry
This is a really effective way to increase literacy skills in young people. It also give us as tutors and parents a great way for our young people to express themselves. This creates some great performances and productions that feel very personal to the learners. It doesn't cost much to acquire a pencil and paper so this is a great activity for most young people to continue outside of a workshop environment. Using the skills learnt in one of our workshops we have heard and read some truly inspirational pieces in the pass. Keep up the good work guys!
Radio and Podcasting
Working with communities and schools Podcasting is a great way for young people to be involved in a continued project. We train them how to create podcasts so they can continue to control there own radio station and train each other. This is also a good way for young talent to be nurtured.
Street Dance and BBoy / BGirl
With films like 'Street Dance' being very popular Hip Hop influenced dance is a big hit with young people today. We go that little bit further though, with our own crew of B Boys and B Girls we have our feet firmly in the HipHop and Urban community. ACEG music works with very talented dancers to create memorable dance productions. All the time engaging young people in healthy, active activities.
Urban Art and T-Shirt design
Using graffiti art techniques and styles commonly seen on t-shirts and hoddies today we work with young people to create customised clothing. These workshops are really good fun and can also be combined with music production and dance workshops to create a truly creative showcase.
Testimonials
Mr Hinchcliff (Headteacher) @ Brookhouse Junior School
Sheffield

Lewis from ACEG music worked with a group of our gifted and talented children over five sessions. Lewis was well prepared for all these sessions realising the importance of good organisation and preparation prior to the sessions. During the sessions Lewis demonstrated an inclusive style in his working with the children being sensitive and aware to include all the children in each workshop. This was a challenge as the ages of the children varied from 8 to 11. The activities Lewis introduced were lots of fun and really challenged the children to extend themselves in being creative and productive.Throughout all the workshops Lewis was punctual and ensured the children were safe at all times. The children were buzzing with the music they had created with words like 'cool' being in abundance in the feedback from parents i have received. I would be happy to recommend his organisation to work with schools.
